Earthquakes in South Asia

My thoughts and prayers are with those whose lives were devastated by the earthquake in South Asia.

This tragedy and the disasters of the tsunami in late December 2004 remind us of our shared humanity - and that tragedy anywhere affects us all. We have been touched by the dignity and strength of survivors who lost so much and are now focused on helping others in their community. Just as the world has opened its arms to us in our time of need, we stand ready to work quickly and provide assistance to help alleviate the horrible suffering and begin the long process of recovery.

As Pakistan, India, and Afghanistan face years of rebuilding, I hope that during this time of difficulties there is possibility for peace and shared hope.
