Four Watson Associates Receive Awards at NEFAR's Annual Gala

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Four Watson Realty Corp. brokers and associates were honored at the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors annual Installation of Officers and Awards Gala on Jan. 12.

Excerpts from comments made during the presentations include:

Millie Kanyar, NEFAR's Realtor of the Year and managing broker of Watson Realty's Fort Caroline office, has demonstrated continued personal involvement and support of NEFAR as well as the entire real estate profession. A Realtor since 1995 and an attorney at law since 2000, she has served as 2001 Women's Council of Realtors Jacksonville chapter secretary, 2002 WCR president-elect, and 2003 president. In 2004, she served as WCR District I vice president and in 2005 as state marketing co-committee chairperson. In 2006, she served as a member of various Florida Association of Realtors committees, earned membership in the FAR Honor Society; served as WCR national Region 7 committee member and state governor Districts V, VII and XIII. Throughout her career, she has served on numerous NEFAR committees, councils and task forces and is a frequent and willing volunteer for many NEFAR projects. She served as its 2006 treasurer and is incoming 2007 secretary. Kanyar was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2000 and admitted to the Middle District of Florida Court that same year. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, Jacksonville Bar Association, Jacksonville Hispanic Bar Association, the Florida Coastal School of Law Alumni Association, Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Beverly Garvin, 2006 Golden R Award recipient and managing broker of Watson Realty's Hidden Hills office, has been a long-time member and has dedicated much of her career and life to the Realtor family on a local, state and national level. She served as chairperson for nearly every position in NEFAR and served as its president in 1991. She has been a key instructor for NEFAR's orientation course, been an outstanding leader in the WCR arena, including serving as state president. Garvin serves as District I RPAC trustee, and has served as a NAR director for the past several years.

William Vasana, co-recipient of NEFAR's 2006 Humanitarian Award and Realtor at Watson Realty's Southpoint office, traveled in the wake of the 2005 tsunami to South Thailand and spent days volunteering in the hardest-hit areas. He counseled traumatized children, helped establish temporary shelters, and helped provide food, clothing, medical supplies, financial aid and equipment to assist families in coping. He also donated additional time and personal resources working with local organizations to find foster care for children affected by the tsunami and help families with adoptions. In addition to his volunteer efforts with the tsunami victims, Vasana also worked with his office to assist the Red Cross with donations toward Hurricane Katrina disaster relief and also participates in the Shands Jacksonville Hospice Prescription volunteer program.

Dianne Pittman received special recognition for various efforts including Putnam Council chairperson in 2006 and her involvement in the NEFAR Charity Bass Fishing Tournament which raised $20,000 for the Haven Hospice. She serves as managing broker of Watson Realty's Putnam County office.

The awards were presented by 2006 NEFAR President Kay Seitzinger, assistant manager of Watson Realty's South Beach office.
