State Road A1A (Bridge of Lions)—Rehabilitation of the bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway. Tidewater Skanska, Inc., of Virginia Beach, Virginia began Feb. 14, 2005 and should finish in 1,825 days (early 2009) at a cost of $76,810,674.75. A temporary bridge is being built just north of the existing bridge for traffic while the existing bridge will be rehabilitated. State Road 13 – Resurfacing from State Road 16 to Mill Creek (9.5 miles). APAC-Southeast, Inc., of Sarasota began Feb. 21, 2005 and should finish in 210 days (Fall of 2005) at a cost of $4,085,165.27. The design/build team of Superior Construction Company, Inc., of Jacksonville and Parsons Transportation Group of Jacksonville started July 8, 2002 and finished Sept. 17, 2004 at a cost of $25.6 million. Also, added two lanes from International Golf Parkway to south of State Road 207 (12.1 miles). The design/build team of Anderson Columbia Company of Lake City and Connelly-Wicker of Jacksonville Beach started July 8, 2002 and finished Sept. 25, 2004 at a cost of $24.5 million. Added two lanes from south of State Road 207 to the Flagler County line (13.4 miles). The design/build team of Jacobs Civil Inc., of Jacksonville and Ranger Construction Industries of Daytona Beach started July 31, 2002 and finished Nov. 23, 2004 at a cost of $33,592,677.00. River Crossing – Corridor study to determine the feasibility of connecting Branan Field - Chaffee Road (State Road 23) to the proposed I-95/State Road 9B interchange that would cross the St. Johns River at either the Shands Bridge or slightly north of Popo Point began in December 2002 and is expected to take two years to complete.
